I’ve played with the idea of creating a travel blog with a foodie vibe for years now. I have always loved writing, and when I was younger I could spend hours in a cafe on my own doing just that. Taking in the atmosphere, looking at people, tasting the flavours of the place. But back then, my blogs didn’t have any purpose.
This year I hit 50 countries, and having travelled a lot, I noticed a clear pattern in the way I explore; my ideal way of understanding a new destination is through exploring its culinary culture and scene. I have a huge passion for flavours. I strongly believe the way food and drinks are prepared, no matter where in the world you are, gives you an intimate and close-up “speed-date” with the destination. You get to explore something personal without exchanging a single word. The flavours, the smells, the vibe – it’s an international language that no one needs to be taught – you just take in the atmosphere, observe the way people eat, the colours of the dish and the sounds of the preparation and suddenly you are transported into this unique, native place.
This is what Scandi Gourmet Girl is all about. Capturing the flavour of each destination – big or small; its authenticity. I’m equally intrigued by street food, local markets, the neighbourhood cafe or the Michelin-starred fine dining and this blog will feature a mixture of all.
I will let you follow my path when I explore; be it far away or where I feel most at home; mesmerizing London or my own beautiful Norway. I’ll make sure I include plenty of dining choices as well as other attractions to visit on the way. Just in case you need a break from the tasty treats. I hope you’ll enjoy exploring the world with me.
